Louis, Han, Odi.... different names, same person. I am a Brazilian-born, Toronto-based polymath.
Since childhood, I found it difficult to express myself to others, and when I was younger I never understood why. I found out I'm an extreme visual learner and associative thinker, and speech has always been complex for me. I am improving, but it has never come easily. It created a distance between my internal experiences and the world around me.
Through horror movies and folklore, I found comfort, and a way to explore emotions that were difficult to understand and express.
My work originates in the merging of my fascination with occult symbolism and my attempt to give those emotions a form.
Whatever the medium, each work is less an invention than an extraction: taking what already exists internally and forcing it into visibility.
In the process of confronting what I fear most, the things I make erode and resist full resolution; they do not want to be fully seen.
